One great way to improve your acting is to become an avid observer. Go to the park, the mall, or anywhere with lots of people. Observe their movements, their facial expressions and gestures. Just be careful not to look creepy. Getting arrested might not bode well for your career.
People watching is a great way to open your mind and imagination. That man with the briefcase over there, could he be an undercover agent? Or that woman with the three kids, what does she do for fun? How would they look and react if something drastic suddenly unfolded before their eyes? Asking yourself, these kinds of questions can open your mind and help you get into character.
A helpful tool in perfecting your acting is a video camera. Record yourself performing a scene from your favorite book or telling about your eventful drive to work. Compare yourself telling a true story to one you made up. Is one more believable than the other? This can help you see where you need to improve.
